CANTON, Miss. – The G.A. Carmichael Family Center, 1668 W. Peace St., Canton 39046, is pleased to announce that it has earned recogniWon for Target Blood Pressure (BP), earning its Gold Level Award for “Check. Change. Control Cholesterol” and its Type 2 Diabetes Programs.
To help healthcare providers achieve their goals, the AssociaWon provides all parWcipants with a dedicated website, featuring a free evidence-based improvement program that includes tools and resources to help clinicians address, diagnose and manage their paWents’ cholesterol.
Dr. James Langabeer wrote, “This program helps pracWces access the latest science and guidelines quickly so they can advise paWents and work collaboraWvely to develop a treatment plan. High cholesterol conWnues to be one of the major risk factors for heart disease and yet remains undertreated.”
Langabeer, Ph.D., FAHA, is chair of the American Heart AssociaWon’s Ambulatory Quality Improvement Advisory Group and professor and vice chair of Emergency Medicine at the University of Texas.
ABOUT TARGET BP: The American Heart AssociaWon (AHA) and the American Medical AssociaWon (AMA) formed Target BP in response to the high prevalence of uncontrolled blood pressure especially among African Americans. This is a naWonal iniWaWve formed to help health care organizaWons and care teams, at no cost, to improve BP control rates through an evidenced-based quality improvement program. It recognizes organizaWons commiged to improving BP control with these awards.
