Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr. Ed.D., Chief Executive Officer
Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr., a native of Camden, South Carolina, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina; Master of Science degree from the University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Arkansas; and Doctor of Education degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. He is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC). Dr. Coleman comes with over 18 years of experience and knowledge in the area of Public Health and Health Care Management, and has served as the former Chief Executive Officer with the Margaret J. Weston Community Health Centers, another FQHC, located in Aiken County.
Dr. Coleman most recently served in the capacity of Department Chair for the Division of Health and Natural Science at Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina. Moreover, he is also the former Chief Executive Officer of the Wateree Community Action, Inc., a community action agency, covering a five county area, with a focus on helping poor and disadvantaged people to achieve self-sufficiency and provide them with the tools and resources necessary to achieve that goal.
He was also employed with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Division of Adult and Community Health and Program Services Branch, within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion as a Behavioral Scientist, working on efforts to eliminate health disparities through the social determinants of health.
Dr. Coleman also served as the former Director for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion with South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. This Bureau had one office and seven divisions with the responsibility of overseeing national and state- level initiatives.
Dr. Coleman is positioning G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center to be a solid organization for the communities of Madison, Humphrey and Yazoo Counties in delivering health care services under his internal theme, “Operational Excellence.”
Dr. Teresa L. McKetney, Clinical Service Director
Teresa McKetney, M.D., a native of Mount Vernon, New York, is currently the Chief Medical Director at G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from University of Mississippi Medical Center, in Family Medicine. Dr. McKetney is board certified with the American Board of Family Practice. She has over 25 years of experience in the medical field with a tremendous amount of knowledge in the areas of Primary Care, Acute Care and Chronic Illness. Her area of expertise is not just limited to medical care for all populations it is extended in FQHC, (Federally Qualified Health Center), Public Health, Health Care Management, HRSA (Health Resource and Services Administration) Regulations, Medicaid and Medicare Programs.
Joseph Davis, Jr., MHA, Chief Operating Officer/Human Resource Director
Joseph Davis is a native of Hopkins, South Carolina and is currently the Chief Operating Officer of G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morris College, Sumter, South Carolina and his Master of Health Administration from Webster University, Columbia, South Carolina.
Mr. Davis is substantially experienced in proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures and people systems. He reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of G.A. Carmichael Family Health Centers, Inc. As the Chief Operations Officer, he is involved in the Strategic Planning both long term and short term goals of the health center. His additional duties include the implementation of monitoring systems to ensure that the operations standards set forth by the Chief Executive Officer meet and exceeds the needs of our consumers in our service areas. Mr. Davis’ constructive and energetic style of leadership demands operational efficiency for ensuring that financial strength, overall operations and efficiency takes place.
Takita Murriel, MD, Chief Medical Director
Takita Murriel, M.D., a native of Coldwater, Mississippi, is currently the Medical Director at G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, and received her Family Medicine training from North Mississippi Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Center in Tupelo, MS. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine with the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Murriel also served 6 years in Army National Guard as a Medic and then as a Medical Platoon Leader. She then served 3 years with the Navy Reserves while in Medical School as a Health Professions Scholar. She is also owner of Premier Family Medicine, PLLC in Madison, MS offering supervision and collaborations with Nurse Practitioners. Her areas of practice are Primary Care, Acute Care and Chronic Illnesses.
Christopher Roby, PhDc, Grants and Programs Director
Christopher Roby, a native of Shelby, Mississippi is currently the Director of Grants and Programs at G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. He also serves as the President/CEO of Mississippi Health Alliance, LLC. in Byram, MS. He is a highly motivated professional with public health and behavioral science experience in the areas of research and evaluation, management, leadership development, and grant development, as well as, 11 years of professional administrative experience; demonstrated achiever with exceptional knowledge of scientific practices with an emphasis in capacity building assistance, while lending support to individuals from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
He has managed 15 prevention interventions projects involving smoking cessation, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, breast/cervical/prostate cancer, and HIV/STIs. Currently, Mr. Roby is a PhD candidate at Jackson State University in the department of Public Policy and Administration where his research is focused on HIV Criminalization Laws.
Ricky Bolden, Informational Technology Director
Mr. Ricky Bolden is a native of Leland, MS and has served more than 20 years in healthcare as the Management Information Systems Director at G. A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc. Mr. Bolden received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, MS with additional studies at Washington University School of Engineering, St. Louis, MO, and Jackson State University, Jackson, MS.
Mr. Bolden’s work includes managing the network infrastructure, telecommunications management, data security, and Electronic Health Record management. He has been instrumental in moving the organization to a virtualized and cloud based environment. His past professional work experiences include Computer Programmer/Analyst – Tougaloo College, Tougaloo, MS and Director of Information Systems, Voice of Calvary Ministries, Jackson, MS.
Mrs. Carolyn Collins, Executive Assistant
Carolyn Collins, Executive Assistant to the CEO, at G. A. Carmichael Family Health Center in Canton, MS. She has made it this far on the belief, “If I can help someone along the way then someone else will grasp the concept and start a trickle-down effect and success is certain.” For the past twenty-seven years she worked in the educational arena and her experience as an Administrative Assistant and predestined change has brought her to another opportunity to serve in a different arena with the knowledge and understanding on what it takes to be an efficient, effective, trustworthy, and a hardworking assisting the dedicated team in making GA a model for all to see. She is continuing her education at Mississippi College and is currently pursing in her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Program Management.
